There are many large and small solar support plants in China, reaching more than 1000 at the peak, but few companies can always "take the lead" in recent years, and few companies have made outstanding achievements in the field of tracking support.


Until the rise of CITIC Bo and the completion of Trina Solar's acquisition of nclave, the "low-end" balance between domestic support enterprises has been gradually broken, and the industry will usher in the survival of the fittest, which is far better than before, and enter the brand stage at the same time.

Large manufacturers of head components entered the track of tracking support, making Trina Solar hit a combination of high-power components and intelligent tracking support,It has a sharper competitive chip in the world; In China, Trina Solar has accumulated a number of empirical cases of tracking scaffolds, providing the industry with references in technology and application fields.


It is reported that the product design tracked by Trina Solar focuses on two dimensions: first, reduce the system cost, save the use of raw materials by optimizing the product design, and make the installation, operation and maintenance process more efficient, so as to help the project owner reduce the construction cost of photovoltaic power station; Second, the whole life cycle management focuses on reducing the failure rate in the life cycle of the tracking support, so as to reduce the power generation loss of the system and ensure the return on investment of customers. It has brushed a wave of sense of existence in the terminal market and won the first opportunity.

Statistics show that by the end of 2021, Trina Solar had tracked and shipped more than 6Gw, providing tracking support products for more than 400 photovoltaic power station projects in more than 30 countries around the world.


Trina Solar's layout in the field of tracking scaffolds has attracted the attention of the industry and peers. Maybe it is jealous of Trina Solar's tracking play or is equally optimistic about this trend. Recently, in addition to the action of Jingao and Atlas taking shares in Jusheng technology, other large component manufacturers are also investigating scaffolds Enterprises and plan to launch acquisition plans.


Large manufacturers of head components have entered the market one after another, which will undoubtedly accelerate the development of tracking support. Then, how big is the market and what is the prospect?


Haitong power's new team has conducted a group of calculations. In the cost of photovoltaic power generation system of 4 yuan / watt, the price of fixed support per watt is 0.3 yuan / watt, the profit per watt is about 0.02 yuan / watt, the tracking support is about 0.6 yuan / watt, and the net profit per watt is 0.05-0.06 yuan / watt, which is higher than that of component single watt.


According to the industry average price of 200GW photovoltaic installed capacity and 0.45 yuan / watt, the market space of the support industry is about 90 billion yuan, no less than that of the inverter industry. For the capital market, the tracking support is undoubtedly a potential stock to be developed under the condition that solar polysilicon, silicon wafer, battery, module, inverter and other links are relatively saturated.


In terms of profits, we can also get a glimpse from the financial reports of zhongxinbo. Its financial reports in the past three years show that the gross profit of single watt of fixed bracket and tracking bracket products is increasing year by year, and the price of single watt is relatively stable, which is rare in the photovoltaic industry, which also verifies the development potential of this field.


At the same time, the potential of tracking stent also comes from the increase of market share year by year. At present, double-sided components are widely used, and the tracking support system solves the problem that the fixed support hinders the power generation of double-sided components. Compared with the fixed support, the tracking support can give full play to the power generation performance of the back of the double-sided double glass module, receive more solar radiation, and the power generation can be increased by 10-25%. The intelligent tracking technology maximizes the utilization of scattered radiation under cloudy conditions, and effectively reduces the power generation loss caused by shadow shading under complex terrain, which can increase the power generation by an additional 3-8%.


"For the same components, the power generation using tracking support is significantly higher than that using fixed support." Duan Shunwei introduced that Trina Solar Tracking compared the empirical power generation of fixed support and tracking support in Tongchuan leader project. The one-year results show that the flat uniaxial tracking support covers an area of 20% more than that of fixed support, The kWh cost of flat uniaxial system is 1.43% ~ 2.39% lower than that of fixed support.

Wang Sicheng, a former researcher at the Energy Research Institute of the national development and Reform Commission, also cited an example to say that the use of the tracking system in Qinghai Golmud project has reduced the kWh cost by at least 0.15 yuan / kWh, and the domestic tracking system will have great prospects in the future.


IHS Markit predicts that with the use of tracking technology in about one-third of ground installation projects, the deployment of tracking system will exceed 150gw during 2019-2023.


In fact, the application of tracking support in overseas power station projects is quite common. Some markets once reached nearly 70% penetration. Taking the United States as an example, tracking support products have occupied the mainstream position in the ground power station market, and the advantages of tracking have been continuously confirmed and recognized.


GTM research predicts that the proportion of global tracking stents will increase to 42% by 2023.


Compete in the global market
Benefiting from the high penetration rate, overseas tracking stent manufacturers are also ahead of domestic enterprises.


According to Bloomberg's ranking, the top ten head support enterprises in the world in 2020 are nextracker, array technologies, STI Norland, arctech solar, PV hardware, gamechange solar, Soltec, nclave (Trina Solar), FTC solar, ideematec, etc. only two companies in China have entered the list.


From another point of view, compared with the achievements of "global pride" of power generation equipment such as components and inverters, support enterprises still have great potential to play.


Solar tracking system is mainly divided into horizontal single axis, oblique single axis and double axis tracking. At present, the tracking system of many photovoltaic power generation projects in China has achieved good results by using flat single axis, which gives great confidence to power station owners and gradually expands the market recognition.


With the development and construction of large photovoltaic base and the intellectualization of photovoltaic power station, the tracking support will also usher in better development opportunities. Then, whose tracking support system will be the best choice for large-scale intelligent photovoltaic power station?


It is understood that the technical content of the tracking support is higher than that of the fixed support. It is a highly customized product, which needs to adjust measures to local conditions and calculate the optimal control scheme according to the terrain and location. Therefore, the requirements for the project experience, operation and maintenance service and product reliability of the tracking support supplier are also higher, and the enterprise needs to have strong technical R & D strength and rich practical project experience.


"Trina Solar tracked the acquisition of 51% equity of nclave in 2018 and completed the acquisition of 100% of nclave in 2020. Nclave is a technologically mature tracking support enterprise. Sun Kai, chief engineer of Trina Solar intelligent tracking R & D, said that at present, Trina Solar tracked more than 80 latest patent applications, including 35 valid patents and 17 valid invention patents.


According to reports, Trina Solar Tracking has established a perfect after-sales system and conducted a five-year long-term follow-up of 58 projects around the world. The follow-up results show that the tracking failure rate of Trina Solar is far lower than the industry average.


In addition to the comparison of fixed supports, in order to better understand the application of its own tracking support products, Trina Solar Tracking has made an empirical test on the tracking support products in the same terrain of Tongchuan leader project. The comparison results of the power generation data tested in one year show that compared with the traditional tracking support, The use of Trina Solar Tracking supertrack technology has achieved 3.06% of the total station level power generation gain and 4.86% of the maximum single row tracking support power generation gain.
At the same time, Trina Solar's combination of high-power components and tracking support has also been recognized overseas. Recently, Fraunhofer ise, the largest solar energy research institute in Europe, conducted lcoe calculation and Research on the mainstream ground power plant combination of the new generation of ultra-high power 210 and 182 series components with Trina Solar Tracking 1p tracking support. Through the combination of single axis 1p tracking system and double-sided components, the power generation gain of 1 + 1 > 2 can be realized, which can significantly reduce the kWh cost and improve the return on investment.


In an interview with PV tech, Duan Shunwei further said that high standards and strict demands on technology and quality are the eternal goals we pursue. At the same time, it is Trina Solar's mission as an industry leader to reduce customers' system costs and improve system power generation revenue through design innovation.


For the domestic market, Duan Shunwei said: "The global project volume tracked by Trina Solar has reached more than 6Gw, which is enough to support various domestic application environments. However, at present, the understanding and acceptance of the tracking support in the Chinese market are not enough. The industry is still borrowing building standards, and the particularity of the photovoltaic power station is not taken into account in the adopted design specifications, load standards, support safety and intelligence, which is beneficial to the owner The choice of or the development of the industry is unfavorable, which needs the joint discussion and efforts of the whole industry. "


Compared with foreign tracking stents, the cooperation between domestic tracking stents enterprises and head component enterprises is more convenient and deeper, and can also respond to the iteration of component technology faster, which is expected to lead in the technical level of tracking stents, and the market prospect is expected. Seize the opportunity, the current global tracking stents market capacity is enough to support a number of "Chinese legions" of mutual support and benign competition.
